The competition will run until September 12, 2010.Venues for the said world championship will be the following: Ankara Arena in Ankara, Halkapinar Sports Hall in Izmir, Kayseri Arena, in Kayseri, Abdi Ipekci Arena in Istanbul for the preliminary round while the Sinana Erdem Dome in Istanbul for the knockout stage.

FIBA Africa has 3 teams: Angola, Côte d'Ivoire, Tunisia; FIBA Asia has 4 teams: China, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon; FIBA Americas has 5 teams: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Puerto Rico, USA; FIBA Oceania has 2 teams: Australia, New Zealand; and lastly the FIBA Europe which has 10 teams: Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, and the host country Turkey.
