As Staal goes in this postseason, so go the Carolina Hurricanes. They've have won all seven playoff games in which he has scored a goal, and are 1-9 when he doesn't.

One reason the Hurricanes enter Tuesday night's Game 4 in danger of being swept out of the Eastern Conference finals by the surging Pittsburgh Penguins is the lack of production from their franchise player.

Game 4 will be on May 26, 2009 7:30 PM ET at the RBC Center, Raleigh, North Carolina.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Red Wings have been winning without getting goals from usually reliable scorers Pavel Datsyuk, Marian Hossa and Tomas Holmstrom.

The reigning NHL Rookie of the Year scored eight goals over the first two rounds against Calgary and Vancouver, but quickly found out his crafty moves and soft hands can be negated by Detroit.

Cleary matched a playoff career high with two goals against the team that drafted him, leading the Red Wings to a 5-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals on Sunday.

Satan and Boucher scored their first goals of the playoffs and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury(notes) prevented Carolina from getting its offense going, leading the Penguins to a 3-2 victory over the Hurricanes on Monday night.

Game 2 will be Thursday night following the first of as many as three two-day breaks in the drawn-out series.
